Membership:
The membership of the society shall be open to all those who are interested in promotion of dryland agricultural research and transfer of technology for rural development. This will be open to those who are actively engaged in agricultural research, education and development and the institutions related to these activities. The membership shall be from January to December.
Category of Members:
There shall be four categories of members, i.e. Life members, Annual members, Institutional members and Corporate members.
Life Members:
Those who pay the prescribed subscription for life membership, Conditions mentioned above shall be applicable to this category also.
Annual Members:
The persons not below 20 years of age who shall be proposed for nomination by any two members of the Society and shall be admitted after they pay the prescribed admission and subscription fee subject to approval of the Executive Council. The names of the newly enrolled members will be placed before the Annual General Meeting of the Society for approval.
Institutional members:
The organizations engaged in agricultural research, education and development can become members after paying annual subscription.
Corporate members:
The organizations / industries engaged in agricultural development activities can become members after paying member ship fee that is decided by the ISDA Executive body at the head quarters.

Privileges of Members:
- Ordinary and life members have the right to vote at all meetings of the Society and to propose candidates for admission to Society. They shall be entitled, so long as their annual subscription is not in arrears, to receive free of charge, such publications of the Society as the Executive Council may decide.
- The Institutional members as stated earlier, cannot be life members. The Institutions can nominate a member to attend General Meetings of the Society and shall have the voting right but cannot hold any office in the Society.
